Lake Ozark and Double X Combine For $5,500 To Win Weekend For ASCS Warrior Region
TULSA, Okla. (July 18, 2017) The Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps is up for a double scoop weekend with extra money up for grabs at both Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo. on Saturday, July 22 and Double X Speedway in California, Mo. on Sunday, July 23.
Added to the Warrior Region lineup after the cancelation of events at Randolph County Raceway, the season’s fifth attempt at Lake Ozark Speedway will offer up a $2,500 to win A-Feature on Saturday night. In four previous visits, three A-Features have been contested with Kyle Bellm having topped the last two outings. Previous to that, Jonathan Cornell picked up his first win of the season at the Eldon, Mo. oval. One night has fallen to rain.
Followed by the 15th annual Clyde Wood Memorial, the Sunday showdown at Double X Speedway will offer up $3,000 to the winner with the event paying $400 to start the A-Feature; identical to that of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour’s payout on the first night of a two night show. The final appearance of the season at the quarter-mile bullring, two races previous too were topped by Jonathan Cornell and Randy Martin.
Going into this weekend’s festivities, Jonathan Cornell holds a commanding lead of 431 markers over Miles Paulus who, on July 8, 2017, picked up his first victory in an ASCS style Sprint Car in open competition at Lake Ozark Speedway. Taylor Walton holds third with Danny Thoman and Tony Bruce, Jr. making up the top-five in tour standings. Corey Nelson, Jay Russell, Randy Martin, Cody Baker, and Kyle Bellm round out the top-ten.
So far, 15 events have been contested in 2017 with 14 A-Features yielding 10 winners. Four drivers sit with two wins each (Cornell, Bellm, Martin, and Reutzel) with the remainder at one each (Hafertepe, Baker, Loyet, Sewell, Boston, and Brown).
Saturday, July 22 at Lake Ozark Speedway opens at 5:00 P.M. with racing underway at 7:30 P.M. (CDT) and is presented by Eagle Machine, Inc. Other classes on hand include Late Models, A-Mods, B-Mods, and Street Stocks. The 15th annual Clyde Wood Memorial at Double X Speedway is brought to race fans by: Tiger Towing, Racinboys.com, CSR Garage, Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps, AA Propane, Xtreme Body and Paint, Hollywood Blasting and Coating, and Heidbreder Foundation.
